Interview conducted with Mr. Mario Dan Nita, General Manager Immergas Romania

Who is Immergas?
Immergas Romania is the representative of the largest producer of thermal power stations in Italy. We have a well defined market segment: apartment centrals, including spare parts. We have in the portfolio somewhere to 60 models and 4,000 items. On the Italian market, with 9 years experience, we can say by far that we are number one. Upon entry into the market in Romania we are positioned second place and, despite the competition that has increased steadily from year to year, we kept this place. We kept the position in the market primarily by maintaining the best quality-price ratio, therefore resisting the competition that came with incredibly low prices in desperate attempt to grab market share. As turnover, at the level of the group of importers we work with, I reached in 2007 EUR 18 million.

Situation before implementation SeniorERP
We used the application since the beginning of our activation in Romania because we wanted to benefit from a safe growth, as our needs met diversification. Since we have chosen to outsource accounting, we started by including the module in our management. We will soon activate online work with the deposit as a new step in our strategy to develop the application in use. This will bring the possibility of tracking in real time entry and exit cargos.

Why did you choose the SeniorERP solution?
It was a very difficult decision given the how well the solution was presented to me. Our mother company in Italy enjoys one of the most technologically advanced ERP solutions and we had to seek a comparable one. I had the freedom to choose a local solution. Market has developed; there are more solutions that cover an incredible range of high functionality. But the difference was given by the people whom I had to work with.

It mattered greatly that we discussed with a sales person, as well as with the operations director, which allowed me to meet people who we are going to work with. I liked that I could rely on their knowledge in the field to organize my business and a prompt response to my specific needs.

In addition to a presentation last year we saw the reports (cubes, as we call them), new models of advanced reporting, which seems to have aroused interest of the central administration, because it meets a lot of reporting requirements of the Italian Headquarter, being consistent reports from the group.

What were the main benefits of implementation?
The main benefit was that we started from the beginning with this application. From this point of view we have no way to feel a sudden change, but what we see is that all applications fit on our objectives for the future. Nowadays we do not need to make new investments in other applications as we are covering our needs and have no data to move from side to side. I have a tool and I only have to exploit it.

Have you had problems in implementation?
I can say that there were no problems. I was pleasantly surprised by those in the Senior Software that have acted any subsequent request, promptly. Things were going pretty fast and how to work with the application was treated as fairly casual.

What are the benefits that you feel after implementation?
The version that I purchased initially is used mostly for statistics. Given that we have our standard internal reporting, we have a man dedicated to this part, which has to translate into Romanian, English and Italian. Based on these statistics we can trace the evolution of sales and we can see which products are selling better.

An important benefit we experience is at level of management of clients and partners. We can trace the evolution of the statistics of each partner and meet real-time orders from customers.

At activation, online connection with the deposit was the main advantage of the system, reducing errors and time needed for data introduction. Normally, those who deliver the merchandise fill approvals, they come to me, they are also introduced in accounting and somewhere along the way it is probably for errors to appear. Integration activity of the deposit will allow me a much better tracking of those and eliminate human errors.

Is ERP a benefit for a company?

What disadvantages do you see in implementing an ERP?
I see no disadvantage regarding the application. It is an investment that operates in time, depending on business objectives.

What recommendations do you have for a company that wants to implement an ERP?
At this time, ERP systems in Romania satisfy all the basic requirements of a company for import and distribution. What differentiates them is the solution provider. Each company has particular requirements and must first see how the supplier is willing to answer them. It is also important the team’sof implementation, customized to your business. If you have multiple implementations in import and distribution, for example, you certainly know how to show things you might not get better or you could do much better. It is very important for the implementator to have business consultancy skills. In short, the decisive factors in such an acquisition should refer to the professional skills and the interpersonal relationship with provider.
